Department of Political Science

The Department of Political Science was established in 1958. The first Head of the Department was Dr. Kamla Purswani. Since 2001 Prof. Preeti Awasthi is the Head of Department. The department focuses on developing an in depth understanding of Political theories and concepts without which political science cannot be understood in entirety, hence emphasis is laid on building an overall consciousness regarding national political history and analysing the Indian constitutional provisions. Encouraging a comprehensive, comparative understanding of specific world constitutions such as UK, USA, Switzerland and France. Evolving an exhaustive knowledge of Indian and western political thinkers. Developing knowledge of administrative studies with special reference to Indian administrative structures and practices. Building an understanding on the nature and developments of the complex world of international politics.

The Department of Political Science runs a Three-Year Undergraduate Programme and Two Years Post Graduation with Semester system under NEP 2020 and follows the same syllabus as that of University of Lucknow for its undergraduate and post graduate classes.

The Department aims at pursuing academic excellence and all round development of students, motivating them to acquire cognitive and political skills, to become profound scholars, original thinkers, sincere researchers good and responsible citizens, capable of playing an active and effective role in the nation-building.
