Anthropology

Anthropology department is one of the oldest departments in Avadh Girls’ Degree College. It was established in 1958. Mrs. Beena Kapoor was the first appointed lecturer in this department. After that Dr. Pratima Bhatia and Dr. M. Deb have joined the department after their retirement, now Dr. Jaya d. Tiwari and Dr. Shashi Bhatia are teaching here. Since 1958 till now , this department is producing many scholars who are continuously being selected in teaching and research projects and administration jobs in various parts of India.

The subject provides in-depth study of Human. It is the holistic study of Human about its culture as well as the Biological aspect. Society, pre-history, genetics, fieldwork, tribes and monographs are the main aspect of this subject. Since its inception, the department is projecting and progressing ahead and imparting training to its students in study and research in different Anthropological fields.
